An idyllic countryside wedding at Markovina Estate

Amidst tranquil gardens, Fraser and Ashley wed in a stunning ceremony in the picturesque setting of Markovina Estate. Surrounded by towering trees, an emerald grassy aisle for the couple’s romantic ceremony headed to a wooden arch. Adorned in delicate flowers in a plethora of pastels, this offered the perfect compliment to the bridesmaid gowns and aesthetic of the day.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?

We met as teenagers and seemed to always be crossing paths, we both worked some of the same jobs and both competed in surf life saving rowing surf boats. One day we met up for a coffee and the rest is history…

Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?

We were in Fiji with some friends and he was very interested in a sunrise. When the alarm went off I just asked to sleep in and he was pretty adamant he wanted to go. He got dressed in a nice shirt and shorts with no shoes, I wore full workout gear with sneakers, setting my apple watch to record our walk! He asked to stop and appreciate the views, I huffed and paused my watch, turned around and he was on one knee! I was so surprised I sat on his knee and kept saying “omg omg omg” and then he had to ask again… “So will you marry me?” I said of course!!!

Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?

Myself and a few of my bridesmaids were trying on bridesmaid dresses with different colours and I was pretty stressed about picking one colour! Then I thought… why not multiple colours? I picked light colours for our summer wedding, then wanting a whimsical floral arrangement with different colours too. I wanted to create a happy and bright ceremony for us.

Why did you choose your destination?

I looked at a few different locations but fell in love with Markovina, so much so, booking it the same day we looked. I loved that there are so many different locations for the ceremony, we chose a new location called Cherry Blossom Round, I loved walking down that aisle – it was perfect. I liked that they also did catering as I was feeling overwhelmed with the planning and the team made it super easy! The meetings we had with the venue really put me at ease and they were super helpful on the day. I would 100% recommend.

What was your favourite detail from the day?

Oh its so hard to choose! I just loved seeing everything come together! I really treasure the car ride in with my mum and dad on the way to the venue and the ceremony went flawlessly thanks to Lee.

Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?

Honestly… no. They all stood out to me and the day went perfectly, I am still in awe a few months later. If I had to pick one – The Peach Club for making me feel beautiful and confident on my special day.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

I remember holding my dads arm, walking down the aisle and looking at the guests. I then suddenly looked up and saw my future husband, looking tearful and so handsome. A memory I will cherish forever.

What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage to me is a commitment, we are committing to each other through the good, the bad and the ugly. We are a team that builds each other up, encourages and provides support when needed. No matter where we are in the world and what situation we are in, we will have each other.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Take a breath! Your friends and family are there to help, don’t be afraid to ask.

When I told people I was having the bridesmaids in different colours I received a lot of criticism, however, I think they looked perfect and wouldn’t have had it any other way- so take on advice, but in the end, yours and your future husband/wife are the only opinions that matter.
