TASH + SHANE // OTAGO WEDDING CAPTURED BY FRANKLY FAYE

Sweet bohemia by the ocean for Tash + Shane, who celebrated with an intimate reception at Corstorphine House, a luxury, heritage villa on the coast of Dunedin.

Wildly feminine and full of old world charm, the day filled with a perfect balance of fun and timeless elegance.

With glistening oceanscape blues mixed in among playful hues of bright pinks and dusky pastel blooms by local floral queen Rock n Rosie. A garden of delight from every detail, even the cake adorned with pressed wildflowers.

Romantic celebrations beautifully captured by Hannah of Frankly Faye and Kara Jane Visuals

‘You allow me to be exactly who I am and love me without hesitation’.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Six years ago we met through a mutual friend in the Octagon (Dunedin) one Saturday night. Few weeks before Valentine’s day, Shane hinted he was going to get me something so naturally I got up at the crack of dawn and decorated his car with flower petals and glitter (he loved it obviously!) The rest is history.

How would you describe each other?

Tash: Shane has a kind heart, he is hard working, the best dad to our wee girl Willa and never stops making me laugh. Shane: Tash gets excited about everything, once she sets her mind on something she does it. Thoughtful, loving and the best partner and Mum.

Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?

Shane’s original proposal didn’t go to plan a few weekends prior in Queenstown, so he took me on a picnic at the beach with our dog, Murphy. I was pregnant with Willa at the time and he got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend his life with me. It was perfect.

Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?

Outside garden wedding, minimalist with some fun elements. We had live acoustics during the ceremony and afterwards we enjoyed lawn games, food from the beautiful grazing table by His and Hers catering, with Oxford caravan bar serving Aperol spritz’s, a selection of beer and Central Otago wines as well as espresso martinis after dessert! We used the glass conservatory at the same venue which meant our guests didn’t need to leave in between – we had photos on site so there was no stress of timeframes. It was fun, relaxed and perfect! Rock n Rosie nailed our floral displays with some pops of colour – we kept everything else fairly neutral and simple.

Why did you choose your location?

We fell in love with the grounds and the glass conservatory! As soon as we saw it we knew it was perfect for us.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

Marrying my person! It’s so hard to pick one favourite moment but definitely walking down the aisle and seeing Shane and saying our personal vows to each other is something I will never forget. Also, staying with my sister the night before at Hotel St Clair and waking up to a beautiful sunrise followed by breakfast by the beach with my family… the sun was shining and I just felt so grateful! Also everyone up dancing the night away at the end of the night!

What does marriage mean to you?

A commitment to each other. Sharing the same name to Shane and Willa was also important to me.

Who were your stand out vendors?

They were all amazing! Stand outs were Hannah (Frankly Faye) and Kara (Kara Jane Visuals) – they made the day so fun and I’m so happy with my photos, Frankly Faye really captured the most special intimate moments and I can’t wait to get my wedding film back! His and Hers catering made the most epic grazing table and the meals and dessert were to die for! Rock n Rosie nailed the floral displays and I’ve never seen anything as dreamy! Harriet (Celebrant and MC) went above and beyond and even helped with writing vows and made the day so personalised to us as a couple.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy it!

Do you have a favourite quote or piece of your vows you would like to share?

‘You allow me to be exactly who I am and love me without hesitation’
