We speak to Director Gabrielle Kirk about the magic behind Papier hq…
What was the initial spark for your brand, how did it all begin?
Papier Hq began with a simple passion: designing prints and wedding stationery as gifts for friends and family. After reaching a point in my career where I felt I had learned all I could in that position, I knew it was time to take a leap and start my own business. It was a dream I had always held, and the timing felt finally right.
Describe your design aesthetic.
I’m naturally drawn to minimalist design, loving clean lines and simplicity. To me, wedding stationery is the finishing touch that completes the big day, and I love having the opportunity to create designs that are unique to each bride and groom. Our team gets genuinely excited about custom designs, and we pour our hearts into making every piece special and memorable.
What inspires you creatively?
My love of travel really sparks my creativity. When I’m struggling with the design process, I like to get out and experience or feel something new. It’s super important for me to get out of my four walls when I feel like I’m in a design rut.
Tell us about your design process when couples approach you to design their wedding stationery?
Our design process varies depending on whether couples choose a complete custom design or one of our templated designs.
For our templated designs:
- The bride and groom place an order online.
- We make any font, colour, and layout changes they request.
- We send a proof for approval before printing. We will go back with any changes they need until they are happy and then proceed with the printing process once approved.
For a complete custom design:
- We love to meet with the bride and groom in person when possible.
- During the meeting, we discuss their vision and show them paper stock and design examples.
- We review their wedding mood boards to get a feel for their desired style and aesthetic.
- Based on these insights, we create a unique design that perfectly captures their vision.
Our goal is to ensure that every piece of stationery reflects the couple’s unique style and adds a special touch to their big day.
How far in advance should couples book your services?
We require at least 4 weeks’ notice for all of our weddings and events. However, we do our best to accommodate last-minute brides and grooms whenever possible. Please note that shorter notice can make it challenging to fulfill requests involving die-cut or foil-printed elements.
Do you offer custom design services?
Absolutely! We love creating something unique and custom for events. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a vision come to life while working closely with the bride and groom. There’s nothing better than making their special day even more memorable with our personalised designs.
