Tell us about Kauri Bay Boomrock and why it is such a special destination.
Kauri Bay offers three individually designed facilities, The Lodge, The Bunkers and The Quails Nest, they are unrivalled in their versatility for entertainment with a strong focus on outstanding New Zealand cuisine, wine, and service. Kauri Bay Boomrock can host from 10 – 250 guests in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. All events are tailored and focused on what our couples want to experience – the business is custom built to accommodate this.
The menu and New Zealand wine list is exceptional at Kauri Bay, tell us a little bit about your menu options available for weddings?
At Kauri Bay Boomrock we believe in showcasing some of New Zealand’s finest products available. We have a selection of menus to cater to every event requirement; everything from relaxed cocktail style canapes and plates, shared family-style platter menus, to set menus.
All our menus are seasonally designed by our Head Chef, Jeroen van Bilsen, with a careful passion. Jeroen has a ‘knack’ for handpicking those unique local ingredients to tie his offering into the Clevedon area.
What are the different location options that you have on site?
As mentioned above we have 3 venues onsite – The Lodge, The Bunkers and The Quails Nest, but have the ability to host specialised “drop in” locations around the area too.
Talk us through a typical wedding day timeline at Kauri Bay?
Setup of The Lodge typically happens at 8am, which is assisted by the team at Kauri Bay. There is an option for The Groomsmen to have a go at Clay Bird shooting late morning, guests are then collected from Central Auckland at approx 2pm to for their arrival at The Lodge with a glass of champagne on welcome. The wedding festivities commence around 3.30pm, finishing at 12.00am
Where do your couples come from, are they mostly local to Auckland or from afar?
Our couples come from all over the world – UK, Australia, Asia but predominantly NZ based.
How far in advance do couples need to book your venue and what is the process?
We usually recommend to book 1 to 1.5 years minimum in advance, especially if couples are looking at a Friday/Saturday prime dates. The process is super simple – once they have been in contact and had a hosted site visit (and are ready to confirm their chosen date) a confirmation form will be sent through; once we receive this back we send through an invoice, wedding planner and shared Google run sheet. (Which is very helpful if they are living overseas).
Are there any trends you have noticed this wedding season?
Champagne towers, pastels and pink flowers and details definitely seem to be a theme 😊
What is your favourite wedding you’ve held at your venue?
Every wedding has their own special touch as we form a unique relationship with each and every couple – we love people to put their own “stamp” on their special day.
Any advice for couples looking at getting married at Kauri Bay Boomrock?
Be sure to have a venue tour either in person or virtually to experience the full beauty we have to offer. Photos just sometimes don’t do it justice!
