A touch of musical magic with Nyree Huyser

Dedicated to bringing a touch of musical magic to any special occasion, Nyree Huyser is an expert in her craft, with her singing experience spanning over 20 years. Her extensive repertoire spans a diverse range of musical genres and eras – from soulful, easy listening through to high energy sounds. With a voice sure to enhance the ambiance of your day, Nyree’s solo performances set the tone to create the ideal atmosphere for any occasion.

We speak to Nyree about how she delivers unforgettable experiences with her vocal talent…

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into singing.

I have been singing since I learned to talk! My mum always encouraged me to sing and still has a cassette recording of me singing at 3 years old! Music has always been a passion of mine. I landed my first professional singing job at 19 years old as part of European tribute band ‘Abbamania’. Since then I’ve never stopped, leading right up to my recent stint on The Voice Australia!

What made you explore wedding entertainment?

I adore weddings! A wedding is not only a special union of two people in love, it’s a celebration of life, love and family. Often bringing loved-ones together from near and far, weddings are so special in so many ways, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved – I always feel honoured to be a part of creating these memories.

What are a few favourite songs you like to play at weddings?

It depends on the crowd to be honest… My repertoire ranges from disco pop songs like Abba and Whitney Houston, to good old country classics like The Gambler and Wagon Wheel!

Describe your process once a couple books with you?

Once a booking has been made, I start creating your perfect playlist – if required I lock in your aisle song, first dance and any other particular numbers that are a must-have on your special day. I would also confirm timings with you and make sure the music side of your day fits perfectly into the schedule you envision. After that, you can relax and focus on your other wedding plans knowing your entertainment is taken care of.

How would you describe your style and who are your influences?

My style can range from soulful, easy-listening to diva-style high energy! This is why a full-day package with me is perfect as I tailor my playlist to suit the mood as the day progresses.

Who’s on your team?

I usually work alone singing with backing tracks which gives more of a live vocal DJ kind of sound and is perfect for couples with a specific budget – however on request I can arrange a female 3-piece vocal group called ‘Sirenz’ or collaborate with the fantastic musicians of the band ‘Capitol City’.

What advice would you give couples when choosing entertainment?
They say that sometimes opposites attract! You and your fiancé may have conflicting music tastes or ideas on what kind of entertainment you envision – embrace this, take time to talk about it and come to a decision both of you are happy with. Wedding planning should be exciting and fun, break open a bottle of wine and play your favourite songs to one another then the decision will make itself!
