An insanely cool and untraditional bride dressed in a golden Alice McCall dress, white boots and Brigitte Bardot inspired hat. The Proposal …
My friend found a unique ring and told Mike it was worth a look. Little did I know, not long after that It would be hiding in his tool box waiting for the “right time”.
One night Mike realised there was no such thing as the “right time” and decided to plan a proposal in less than 2 hours while I was out with friends. He hadn’t asked my Dad for his blessing yet, so once that was ticked off he grabbed a bottle of champagne plus my dog Maisy and anxiously waited to pick me up.
Once home I turned around to mike down on one knee. It was perfectly understated and exactly me, so we popped the champagne and danced the night away.
Our Wedding Style…
Our wedding style was just to be simple and have hints of an autumn toned ambiance, I wanted it to be relaxed, easy and untraditional with flowers everywhere. Set at 5 in the evening, the hues of my floral vision were of gold, amber and white.
My personal style really started off from my feet. My boots were the first thing I ordered and next was my hat. I found my dress with around 4 weeks left to go, the tassels just spoke to me.
All Mike wanted was a tailored slim suit, classic black with unique braces and high cut boots. Being the only suit Mike has ever owned he wanted it to be subtle so he can wear it again!
Favourite details… We both agree that our favourite detail from the day was our Toi Toi arrangement at the alter which was done by my clever friend Sofie. The texture and colours that stood behind us was something so special and I couldn’t dream of anything better than being surrounded by them as we said ‘I do’.
What Marriage is to us…
A total commitment to each other, forever! Marriage is for showing one another your intent to dedicate one’s life to another, not for showing it to anyone else.
Any advice for other couples? Just do what YOU want. Once main vendors are booked, don’t fuss over the finer details until the final weeks leading up. Nothing can be physically done until then so no use killing each other in the meantime.
