A Vibrant, Modern and Colourful wedding in the heart of Wanaka….

Using cheerful colors of yellow, blue, and pink as their muse, Jessy and Ryan were wed at the iconic The Lookout in Wanaka. A kaleidoscope of colours formed a feast for the eyes, with bright and bold floral contrasting with earthy scenic tones. No detail was left out, with the bridesmaids donning beautiful gowns in a stunning blue, tables decorated in pastel accents, and complimentary signage in whimsical hues to name a few.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?

We have been together for 6 years. We meet in Methven in a friend’s woolshed a big group of us were there helping him shear his ewes and I really wanted to learn how to shear a sheep. A mutual friend said I have the perfect person to teach you! It was this handsome English man who I had never seen before. he was so patient and kind, we just clicked instantly.

Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?

I got to design my engagement ring, so I knew it was coming at some point but not when it happened. We were at my grandparent’s holiday houses In the Marlborough sounds down on the beach front playing fetch with our darling dog ottie, having a romantic walk on the beach next minute I turn round, and Ryan is down on one knee asking me to marry him. The moment was just perfect and just the two of us with our little fur baby couldn’t of been any better.

Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?

I have been planning my wedding day since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of that day forever. I LOVE colour, I’m a bright person so always knew I wanted a colourful vibrant wedding with lots of flowers everywhere. We sat down and discussed what were the most important things to us on the day, photos, flowers, food, beverages and music were our top ones, so we took our time at picking the right vendors to fit our day.

Why did you choose your destination?

We picked Wanaka as our location as it just absolutely breath taking, also Ryan is from England and had a lot of friends and family coming over for our special day, so we wanted somewhere stunning for them to all see too. As soon as we turned up to the look out lodge Ryan said THIS IS IT!!

What was your favourite detail from the day?

EVERYTHING!! It’s too hard to pick a favourite because It was legit the best day of our lives, it was our dream wedding. Everyone brought our vison to life and absolutely nailed it.

Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?

They all were just amazing!! But two that stood out to me was Sophie the photographer, she is insane!! Such a fun, amazing lady to have with you the whole day she goes above and beyond. She is incredibly talented at what she does. Another one was the florist, they completely understood my vision and brought it to life! I wanted colourful flowers everywhere and they nailed it!! They were so easy to work with, they made the whole process very easy.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

Marrying my best friend and soul mate would be my favourite plus having all our loved ones from near and far together in one place having the best few days.

What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage is a bond between two people that no one else understands, they are your best friend and your soul mate. A partnership that gets each other through life when you need each other the most and share the most amazing experiences together building a future.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

It’s your big day, make sure you don’t rush the planning process enjoy it and have some fun with it. Sit down with your partner with a wine or two and talk about what the most important things are to you both as a couple and go from there. Remember it’s your guys day do what makes you happy!
