“She was free in her wildness. She was a wanderess, a drop of free water. She belonged to no man and no city”. – Roman Payne
This ethereal styled shoot by The Little Hire Company and a talented group of Christchurch vendors was inspired by the rugged, untamed beauty of Birdlings Flat, Banks Peninsula where, if you’re lucky you may unearth a hidden gem.
Captivating and bewitching, this shoot evokes a sense of wild coastal romance, with a palette of moody greys punctuated by rich ruby tones. Soft tulle gowns by Natalie Chan boutique contrasted against the coarse landscape and wildly romantic blooms by Charmed Flowers. Photographer Susannah Blatchford perfectly captured the intimate atmosphere, shooting into dusk and finally darkness.
“For her, the ocean was more than a dream, it was a place she needed to visit to find herself. And when she returned to the city, you could see the sun in her eyes, the wind in her hair and taste the infinite salt on her lips.” – Jose Chaves
