Firstly, give us an introduction.. A little bit about you and how Eilish Burt Photography came to be:
Hello! My name is Eilish and I have been a professional wedding photographer for over five years, capturing incredible and joyful moments at weddings all around the world.
I believe that wedding photography should be an inspiring and fun experience for everyone involved – from the couple to their families and friends. That’s why I strive to capture the moments that showcase each couple’s unique love story in a beautiful way. I take extreme pride in my work and am always very grateful to be part of this special day for my gorgeous couples!
Why photography?
There is something really magical about capturing fleeting emotions in a single frame – to me, it’s one of the most beautiful forms of artistic expression! A very fun challenge that I love and will always be addicted to!
What is it about the art form that drives you, inspires you?
I feel immense pride and joy every time I’m given the opportunity to capture a couple’s love story. Documenting their deep connection is an incredible honour, and being welcomed into their world is always a privilege. This sense of awe and inspiration fuels me, and I cherish each moment spent with some amazing people. There is no feeling quite like it and it is simply the fire that feeds this passion of mine!
What can couples expect when working with you on their wedding day?
My goal is to ensure you have a very FUN and ultimately stress-free experience with me while capturing your special day. I take the time to get to know my couples, creating an awesome connection between us. This helps me capture all those fun, unique moments that truly reflect who you are as a couple.
Is there any advice you can give to couples that are nervous to get in front of the lens?
Absolutely! I understand it’s not every day we have a big old camera pointing in our direction. So I understand how it can be daunting. This is why, as your photographer, creating a comfortable space is very important to me! A relaxed and comfortable environment for my couples ensures I capture those real and raw moments. Acting as if your photographer isn’t even there is key!
What’s your favourite moment during a wedding day?
The quiet ones! There is a lot of magic in a Wedding Day but some of the most magical moments I’ve captured are the ones that are more hidden/secluded.
Elopements or Weddings which are your favourites?
Hmmmm… BOTH! I love the intensity of a Wedding Day. The hustle and bustle of guests and the moments you capture in between are so fun! Whereas elopements offer a whole different vibe. One that is the complete opposite. A much more intimate, secluded and quiet setting. Where you can really breathe in every second of your day.
Who are the artists, photographers, creatives that inspire you?
Anni Graham, Maley Photo and Daniel Kim. These photographers in my eyes are unmatched! For me, they all share the same message and that is, GENUINE CONNECTION. The moments these artists capture are absolutely breathtaking. The captivating moments you always hoped a photographer would be there to capture.
If you aren’t shooting a wedding, where would we find you on a Saturday morning?
Adventuring!!! I love being outdoors! I love practicing my longboarding in the Ohope waves and going for my runs/walks on the family farm. Being outside always makes me feel super grounded and free!
Anything exciting coming up for 2023?
YES! I am set to capture my first Australian Wedding in December. I am so excited and I cannot wait! I am wanting to build up my client base over there so this is a great step for achieving this goal!
