With 6 years in the wedding industry and previous experience in the Wild Hearts fairs, we are delighted to have such incredibly talented stylists on board. We have popped together a Q&A for you to learn a little more about the team. They share with us tips and tricks on hair care leading up to your wedding, as well as their suggested products for repair. Hare and Hunter ooze passion for weddings and have a genuine care for their clients ensuring they have the best experience leading up to their weddings. We can’t wait for you to get to know the team.

Firstly, tell us about your team, your services and your involvement in the wedding industry.
Our team at the salon consists of 2 salon owners, 2 Emerging stylists, 2 apprentices and 1 contractor who helps out on the big wedding jobs. At the salon we offer a whole range of services including personalised colour, cuts, treatments and event styling. Hare & Hunter has been a part of the NZ wedding industry for 6 and a half years now, we have been lucky enough to have been the hair stylists for Wild Hearts back in 2017, and are so excited to be included in this year’s fair.
What are you looking forward to most about Wild Hearts Wedding Fair and Runway?
As mentioned, we were a part of the fair and runway back before covid times, and back when Hare & Hunter was just a one man band, so we are so excited to be a part of the fair and runway as a team this year! We are also excited to meet some of the old and new designers we will be working with as well as all of the future brides and grooms.
What is your favourite part about working with bridal groups?
Getting married is one of the most important days of your life! It’s always such a special feeling when someone chooses you to be a part of their big day! We love helping the bride and her group feel so special and look like the absolute best version of themselves.
Are there any current bridal trends you are loving at the moment?
We are loving the glam wedding gowns that seem to be on trend, as well as the fun detachables brides are adding on, like a puff sleeve or a long train.As far as hair goes, we are known for our glam waves, which we think (and hope)will always be trending.
What is your advice on hair prep in the months leading up to a wedding? Do you have products you recommend for damaged hair?
In the months leading up to your wedding you should make a plan with your hairdresser so that your colour appointments line up with the wedding day. If your usual hairdresser isn’t doing your wedding hair, we advise you to have your trial with your wedding stylist at least 4-8 weeks before the wedding so it allows time to have any colour work, a cut or extensions to be purchased, your wedding stylist will be able to guide you through what’s needed. Our fav products for damaged hair are Moroccanoil Hydrating treatment, Olaplex number 3 and 8 and Ilse formula 1,2 and 3.
If brides are looking to have their colour done before the wedding, when is a good time to pop in and see your team?
If you haven’t been to us before, we suggest coming for at least 2-3 colours leading up to your wedding. Sometimes it takes multiple appointments to get the colour just right, especially if you’re coming in with a colour correction or have never coloured your hair before. If you are unsure, we offer free consultations, but please give us plenty of time to be able to help you, as we do book out a few months in advance.
What is the process for couples looking to work with you for their weddings? Do you offer trials pre-wedding?
If you are interested in having Hare & Hunter look after your hair for your big day! Please fill out the contact form on the website, and include any helpful information, such as your getting ready location, how many people require our services and the time you’d like to be ready by, the more info the better! If we are already booked, we will point you in the right direction of our other fav stylists. We always recommend a trial before the wedding, this gives us the chance to meet before the wedding day and go through and trial your inspiration photos so we can decide what’s going to be best for the day.
Do you have any teasers on what is next for your business?
Hare & Hunter is very excited to announce that in February 2023, we will be expanding our salon! We are taking on another level above our current space, this will mean more appointment times and a few new faces. We are so excited for our growth as we turn 2 on the 9th of September.
