Edan & Michael’s beautiful real wedding took place in Christchurch on a picture perfect Autumn day. In a rustic barn at Harpers Homestead, surrounded by fallen leaves and wild fields. This old hollywood glam combined with a natural rustic vibe was magically captured by Susannah Blatchford Photography and styled by The Little Hire Company and Cressy Lane.
With a less is more approach in mind, the natural timber and pops of red through the flowers helped it all tie in nicely. The dreamy blooms that took centre stage at the altar above the barn doors, were beautifully arranged by Charmed Flowers.
We love featuring weddings that are held here in Garden City and to see more of Edan & Michael’s Christchurch wedding featured in our Wild Hearts magazine vol 02 available to purchase here.

How you met and the proposal…
We met in Nelson at a bar called 623 it was a blind date arranged by mutual friends. Michael proposed while on holiday in Austin, Texas. We had spent the morning swimming at a beautiful spot called Hamilton Pools Preserve. He asked if I wanted to go for a walk under the waterfall, next minute he was down on one knee proposing. It was one of the happiest days of our lives!
Our wedding style…
We both really wanted an autumn wedding, we love the colours. We also loved the idea of getting married in a barn – the rustic woodlands look that doesn’t require much styling, but still looks amazing. Less is more for us! We walked into the venue for the first time and saw the beautiful flowers and foliage Ginny (Charmed Flowers) had styled for the bridal table and fairy light curtain. It was so gorgeous and exactly what I had envisioned. Perfection!
What marriage is to us…
Sharing life and growing old with the person you love.
Advice for couples planning a wedding…
There are no right or wrongs when it comes to weddings. If you don’t like it, don’t have it. It is your day so make sure that it is personal to you.
