We chat to Rosa from Designed By Rosa, an up-and-coming girl boss who designs insanely cool art prints and wall planners- essentials for creative babes. We love her uplifting quote print in our Wild Hearts office, sitting pretty alongside wild dry florals by our gal Gypsy from The Vase Queenstown.

Tell us a bit about Design by Rosa?
Designed by Rosa is an expression of everything that I love. It started when I moved into my first flat in Wellington and was looking for prints for my walls. I couldn’t find anything in the market relevant to my age and where I am in life. It was a wonderful moment when I realised how much other people loved what I had created.
How did you get into graphic design?
I was told in life to take the subjects at school that I enjoy and one day I will love what I do. This carried on into uni and here I am!
You have such a cool, carefree vibe – what inspires your designs?
Life. I see beauty in everything around me everyday. 
What is your creative process?
This is a hard question as it just comes naturally to me. I would never be satisfied with a new design unless I was willing to put it on my own wall. As funny as it sounds, I have a thing for fonts which is a really good starting point for my designs!
Do you offer custom design services?
This is not something I encourage mainly due to a time factor but if asked I am always up for a challenge. Recently I designed a make up face chart for Kasia Stanicich Makeup and loved the experience this provided me with.
How do you pick yourself up when you’re in a creative lull?
I know it sounds corny but I have no idea what a creative lull is because I love every moment of what I do.
What’s your go to colour combo?
I have a soft spot for PINK. I blame it on the fact I have 4 brothers and an over excited mother to have a daughter at last. 
Best advice you have ever received about being a creative business owner?
My Mum told me “If you are passionate about what you do in your business and are willing to work hard then happiness and hopefully success will follow” Be true to yourself.
What’s next for Design By Rosa?
This year I introduced Designed by Rosa wall planners which have been a huge success. It’s important to come up with new ideas and fresh products all the time so people stay interested in what I create. Watch this space……..
