We sat down with the team at Blak to get to know a little more about this beautiful brand, and get some inside tips on Bridesmaid trends for this season. Expect to see dreamy colours for inter-seasonal bridesmaids attire with the wonderful BLAK Bridesmaids this Summer.
Firstly, tell us about your gorgeous brand, how you started and the essence of your ethos?
We offer a collection of styles that are made to order, which means brides really get to customise the look to suit their dream wedding vision. Some choose one style and one colour for their bridesmaids; others will let their bridesmaids choose the style that they love most, and pick a range of complementary shades so each of their girls can shine while looking stunning as a group.
BLAK Bridesmaids is part of our brand BLAK. We’ve been creating beautiful, timeless clothing for women for more than a decade now, and Bridesmaids has grown to be a huge part of what we do. It’s such a pleasure and an honour to be involved in someone’s big day, and we love that we get to help them bring their dream to reality.
What were you looking forward to most about Wild Hearts Wedding Fair and Runway?
Wild Hearts is such a beautiful event and we’re so lucky to be involved! It’s a lovely opportunity to meet other wedding vendors and brides to be and introduce them to what we do.
Are there any gorgeous new bridal-party colours you have in your collection or that are trending in the industry that you love?
We have a huge range of colours to choose from, and we also offer brides the ability to create a custom colour for their dresses. We always have the eternal favourites coming through; soft and deep greens, romantic pinks, and we’ve also seen plenty of vibrant shades; especially yellow and purple!
Do you have favourite styles for petite, curve and maternity weddings?
All our dresses are designed to flatter a range of body types – but for a petite frame we might suggest the new Soul Slip; with its cowl neckline and bias cut. For a curvier body, our wrap dresses are popular, like the classic Ivy Dress, one of our bestsellers. We also have dresses that suit a bump beautifully, like our Calm Dress – free flowing style that can be cinched in under the bust or at the waist.

We have two stores; BLAKCHAOS in Mount Maunganui, and our flagship store in Newmarket. Brides can book a complimentary appointment to come along with their bridesmaids and consult with our bridesmaids specialists on colours, fabrics and styles. Do you have any teasers on what is next for your brand?
We have a gorgeous new selection of styles coming soon, including those seen on the Wild Hearts runway – you’ll find them in our stores and they’ll be online soon. They’ve already been a hit with our brides!
