An Ethereally Romantic Wedding at Boathouse Row

A candle-lined reception unfolded lakeside at Erica & Jack’s romantic wedding at the picturesque Boathouse Row in Coatesville. The couple’s minimalist ceremony was held in the gardens of the venue, with a grassy aisle leading to a simple yet sophisticated floral installation. Punctuated by a poetic entanglement of soft muted tones, an ethereal ambience was created.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?

We met at the Maid of Honour’s house party on 17 December 2015

Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?

Jack had planned to propose on our anniversary in 2021, we had planned to go out for dinner, he had asked my dad and all that, the day before we found out I was pregnant with our daughter Kinsley, so my dad got a call a day earlier thinking it may be the proposal but was a baby announcement. The next day, on our anniversary, we went to dinner and then Jack said he needed to grab something from his parents place, when we drove past the road they live on I was confused. Jack took us to the place where we said we loved each other for the first time, and proposed with a lolly ring (he always said he would). It was everything I could have ever wanted.

Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?

We wanted a relaxed day for our friends and family. We had been to so many weddings where everyone was rushing around and stressed about little things. We knew we wanted to enjoy our day and we did. In terms of style we knew we wanted it to be casually lavish. We wanted it all but without the insane price tag. Lisa helped us to define our vision.

Why did you choose your destination?

We wanted to be in Auckland for my grandparents, who unfortunately were unable to make it in the end. We were driving past a house in Coatesville and we saw a house we liked, ended up seeing that Boathouse Row was there and did weddings so I said we should get married here. Ended up loving it. So we did.

What was your favourite detail from the day?

Our daughter during the ceremony came and held my hand. Having her with us was amazing.

Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?

Lisa from With Love Weddings and Events, its all on her. This would not have been half as good without her. Love her so much.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

Taking ourselves away from the Hussle and bustle of the wedding and chatting with Jack, we went into the suite and just chatted for 20mins, it was so nice to see him and take it all in together. We chatted about our day so far, our favourite parts and how it all came together.

What does marriage mean to you?

Before getting married it was just a party and piece of paper to be honest, but now, it was a celebration of what we have achieved as a couple. It is the acknowledgement of balance, of sacrifice, of love and kindness. Its acknowledging your person. Loving them and choosing them.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Hire a wedding planner. Lisa made our year so easy. We had family getting annoyed that they weren’t more involved in the planning and to be honest we felt we weren’t all that involved. Lisa spent so much time understanding us and our visions that we just had to say yes. I remember at one point something just didn’t feel right about a plan we got sent but I couldn’t pin point what was wrong as it was all so beautiful and I asked Lisa and she nailed it on the head and it came out perfect.
