Woven with sentimentality, Madison and Scott’s wedding was a celebration of their love, bringing together loved ones near and far, in a celebration full of good food and memories to last a lifetime.
Madison exchanged vows with Scott in a stunning backless gown, her silhouette draped by a veil that trailed every step. This was a wedding of refined simplicity and sophisticated minimalism. A soiree both intimate and elegantly curated, needing little decor to allow the beautiful setting of Rippon Hall to be hero.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We have been dating for almost five years but we were never meant to be together; Scott only went
on the first date as a joke and Maddy was fresh off dating one of Scott’s best mates.
Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?
Our proposal story sums up our relationship; Scott tried to organise a surprise weekend away and SO many things went wrong, yet somehow it all ended perfectly. There was a delayed flight, a very dark night with torrential rain, a bucks party next door, a closed hike, a flooded view point. As always, Scott was very bad at keeping a secret, but he got the job done and we had the best weekend together!
Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?
We really just wanted our wedding to be one big love party. We wanted it to be relaxed (but well-planned) so that all of our family and friends who were travelling for the wedding would have the best time. We focused on lots of good food, good drinks and an epic dance floor!
Why did you choose your destination?
Madison had always loved Wanaka and spent a lot of time there growing up. We did a ski trip together just before we got engaged and did a wine tasting at Rippon on one of our last days. As soon as we arrived we both turned to each other and said ‘this is where we’re getting married’.
What was your favourite detail from the day?
The festoon lighting through Rippon Hall which set the scene for our canapes and then our dancefloor!
Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?
They were all honestly amazing – everyone raved about the food, the furniture hire team were so amazing to deal with and the hair/makeup/florist were flawless and absolutely fit our design brief.
What was your favourite moment from the day?
Dancing with Madison’s grandma on the dance floor.
What does marriage mean to you?
A public commitment that we will stay best friends and each other’s biggest supporters
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Set aside at least one deliberate moment by yourselves to soak it all in! We snuck away mid
dancefloor to our bridal room and watched all of our family and friends mingle and dance – it
was one of our favourite moments.
