With a wedding aisle set in front of a picturesque alpine backdrop, Hayley and Cayle wed in a dramatic setting at a private residence in Drift Bay. The ceremony unfolded before mountainous vistas, enveloped in golden grass and rolling hills. The bride wore a chic, customized Jane Hill gown, beautifully contrasting the expansive terrain.
This bold and chic reception was held under the canopy of a clear marquee, to allow the landscape to truly be hero. A modern and crisp, black and white palette was used as a stunning contrast of the surrounding natural setting.
Photographer Kate Roberge beautifully captured this tranquil Queenstown wedding.
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We met at work and have been together for 7 years & still work together today.
Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?
We live in Brisbane, Australia and have always travelled to Noosa for long weekends and little getaways. We went there for a long weekend for my Birthday and while we were on a sunrise walk around the headland, we stopped and sat down for a few minutes over looking the water. Cayle then “thought he saw whales out in the ocean” and so I was looking for them and I turned around and he was down on one knee. The perfect moment as the sun was rising over the ocean.
Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?
Modern, clean & classic elevated style with personal touches throughout. I wanted a day that felt elegant and chic but also felt warm and heartfelt to us and all our guests.
Why did you choose your destination?
Queenstown is such a beautiful place and we thought it would be such a great destination wedding! Plus Cayle’s Aunty & Uncle were kind enough to let us use their picturesque backyard for the special day.
What was your favourite detail from the day?
We secretly spent months writing personalised notes to all of our guests to go on the back of their place cards, watching everyone’s face and the tears when everyone turned them over and read them at the start of the reception was a special moment.
Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?
I have two and can’t choose between them! Alexandra Kate Creative & Kate Roberge. Alex’s team was truly incredible during the entire planning process and when it came to styling the day they totally nailed it! Kate was the ultimate hype girl and made us all feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, we never felt like we were posing and the emotion from the day is perfectly captured in our images.
What was your favourite moment from the day?
Having my dad walk me down the aisle and seeing Cayle standing at the end (balling is eyes out) waiting for us was emotional to say the least but it was the most special moment that I have dreamt about my whole life.
What does marriage mean to you?
It means that we get to continue creating a magnificent life together but now we are officially a family and get to share a name.
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Surround yourself with the best and most experienced vendors and you will be able to relax on the day and know that they have everything under control. Also the day will feel like a dream so try to be present and soak in every single moment!
