Nestled on a picturesque 500 acre property , Kauri Bay Boomrock offers a unique blend of country and coast with expansive views over the Hauraki Gulf. A stunning backdrop for weddings offering the perfect blend of ocean and nature. Only a short drive from central Auckland, this modern farm by the ocean, has innumerable striking locations for unforgettable photos and beautiful moments.
What was the initial spark for the property and how did it all begin?
We actually started in Wellington about 27 years ago, Ollie and his Uncle, Jonny decided to do something in Auckland as there was nothing quite like it. After a few more Heinekens, Jonny said you know what why don’t you start it. So Ollie being the silly man he is decided to do so.
What spaces do you offer for a wedding or event?
We have three venues on sight to choose from, surrounded by some of the country’s most beautiful scenery.
The Lodge has the ability to host from 10-250 guests in a warm and relaxes atmosphere with expansive coastal views over the Hauraki Gulf. It is the complete venue to entertain guests for corporate entertainment and meetings to wedding celebrations, international incentives, private functions and product launches.
The Bunkers is a little smaller and can host up to 50, this is what we call our “Off the grid” venue. This venue is developed around the five-stand sporting concept. Set amongst high hill terrain, the diverse targets will encourage the beginner through to challenging the shooting enthusiast. The Bunkers offers the ultimate day out for both private and corporate entertainment experiences.
In 2021, The Quails Nest was built, as one of our shooting stands and a venue for smaller events that want a shooting fuelled morning or afternoon. Guests will be entertained for hours with the adrenaline-filled activity for Claybird Shooting and Shooting Flurries, darts and Extreme Golf. With the ability to host up to 15 guests, it is the perfect venue for a shooting fuelled day.

What additional features and facilities does your property offer that couples may find useful?
We offer a wet weather location for your ceremony. Our weddings have exclusive use of The Lodge for the ceremony and reception; choice of our Manuka wooden arch or white picture frame arch, oak wooden tables, bentwood chairs & pews, glassware, crockery and cutlery, napkins, staffing for full table service; lodge set-up and clean up, printed menus for each guest, management and coordination of the event from start to finish. We also offer recreational activities such as complimentary cornhole, giant jenga, giant connect four and pétanque. Extreme Hole-in-One Golf $500, Golf Putting Green $200. We take care of all of your transport needs, whether that be via helicopter, coaches, or luxury chauffeur driven cars. Our transportation options are to ensure that your guests have an enjoyable and safe trip to and from our venue, and so guests can enjoy a few beverages and not have to worry about how they are going to get home.
Accommodation, The Painted Barn is a privately-owned accommodation option onsite for the night before and/or the night of your wedding based on availability for $800 per night. The Barn comprises 2 bedrooms; 3 Queen beds, 1 Kind bed, a full equipped kitchen, bathroom, 2 large living areas and balconies with views overlooking the farm.
We also offer Claybird Shooting for the groomsmen, as the ladies do take a little longer in the mornings to get ready. ($95pp)
What type of couple would fall in love with your property and why?
Any couple would, you are instantly relaxed in our sanctuary and blown away by our beautiful views.
What advice can you give couples when selecting their venue?
Looking at dates at least 1-1.5 years out (especially if you want specific dates). Shop around and get a good feel on what you are after, ask lots of questions. Weather/backup plan as you never know what may happen on the day. Trust your instincts and choose something that feels right and aligns with your vision.
