Born and bred Cantabrian and founder of menswear icon Crane Brothers, Murray Crane has opened a beautiful store in the heart of the garden city, fulfilling an ambition to have a retail space in a city he loves while contributing to it’s regeneration and rebuild.
With a flagship store in High St, Auckland, a Wellington branch and also a Sydney store, long-held plans for a Christchurch space had to be put on hold following the 2010/11 earthquakes; finally Crane Brothers has a place to call home in a lovingly restored iconic building.
We at Wild Hearts, along with some of our lovely local industry friends, were honoured to go along to the opening party of this stunning new store, situated within the old Cafe Roma building at 176 Oxford Terrace. Murray, with enduring admiration for the landmark from a young age, was drawn to it’s heritage history and location in a creative precinct of Christchurch.
This belief in preserving heritage is synonomous with Murrays’ ethos, “To me, luxury is something of quality, something well-made. At the core of everything we create are the pillars of value, quality and longevity.”
With strong roots in New Zealand’ wool industry, Crane Brothers works with NZ grown wool suppliers as well as sourcing premium materials from Italy and the United Kingdom. We were privileged enough to have Murray on our Industry Leaders Panel at our 2017 Auckland event, as well as dressing grooms on our runway. To see more, click here.
Congratulations, Crane Brothers, on your amazing milestone of opening your stunning Christchurch space!
