With spring in full swing, the sweet taste of summer is blooming closer than ever. Which means the season of backyard exploring, lazy days with friends, breezy wine tours and of course, weddings, is nearly upon us. In preparation of summer, we’re brining you a little taste of the beautiful Hawkes Bay. Starting with Lawn Road Retreat ~ an incredible estate at the heart of the wine region that we had the pleasure of staying at on a recent trip to the region.
Lawn Road Retreat is one of Get Hitched in Hawkes Bay’s recommended vendors and we checked in to see the magic for ourselves. Greeted by the incredibly lovely and welcoming host, we even had a special treat from The Mad Platter filled with lots of local goodness to tuck into after our flight. The Lawn Road Allure
Lawn Road Retreat’s charm is its boutique feel and its ability to facilitate time with loved ones in a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere. It provides stunning accomodation for large groups, whether it be a wedding party, a central hub for wedding guests, friends celebrating a special event or a family reunion, it easily sleeps 17 people in plush simplicity. It’s large-scale, but space and luxury is by no means compromised.
Outlooks
Nestled in the Hastings countryside and sheathed in vineyards, orchards and farmland, the surrounds of Lawn Road Retreat are pastoral and idyllic (and it’s complete with free range chickens). Charming, rustic and instantly relaxing. While rural, it’s only a five minute drive from the main wineries, and a five minute pedal from the cycle path.
Spaces
Together, the main house, the apartment and the studio effortlessly sleep seventeen people. Space isn’t compounded – you won’t be on top of each other, and you’ll have private space after long days and evenings in the company of others, something that most large accommodation options lack. With six bathrooms, there’s no shortage of showers and there’ll be minimal waiting time, if any.
With three living areas and multiple kitchens, including an all weather outdoor living space, Lawn Road Retreat is an an easy place to assemble your favourite people and revel in their company. Plug into the built-in sound system, sit back and sample local wine together, share meals and memories long into the night under the stars.
Facilities
With an abundance of onsite activities, you won’t even need to leave the Retreat (except to perhaps visit the local vintners). Facilities are near-to endless and are fully supportive of friends congregating and hearts filling under the Hawke’s Bay sun. Complete with a salt water pool, spa pool, tennis court, pétanque and an outdoor fire place and kids play area, there’s something for all ages. Oh, and the outdoor fridge, Webber BBQ, keg fridge and pizza oven (with flour, yeast and a never fail pizza dough recipe at your disposal), to keep you sustained at all hours.
