A Pop of Colour at this Coastal Taranaki Wedding

Punctuated by pops of blush and coral hues, Shanelle and William were wed seaside in Taranaki for a modernly romantic wedding.

Boasting spectacular coastal views, the venue was complimented by simple and elegant styling, fused with natural and bright tones. Shared with their closest friends and family, their heartfelt celebration was fun-filled and unforgettable. A touch of whimsy was integrated into the floral in a stunning array of rustic and unstructured wildflowers – the perfect compliment to the natural surrounds.

How did you meet and how long have you been together?

We first ‘met’ while out for dinner with mutual friends but we didn’t actually properly meet until a good old swipe right on tinder! We have officially been together 5 years!

Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?

The proposal was at Hahei Beach in the Coromandel, Shanelle’s favourite place. A few friends were there that we had been spending New Years with, beach and festival hopping. We had a few group pics and then couple pics which is when William decided to propose!

Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?

We wanted our wedding style to represent us! We are both very chill people but also love a plan. The wedding was planned down to the minute and it ran so smoothly. When looking at colours and flowers I knew that I wanted something bright because I’m such a colourful person myself but I didn’t want it to age. This lead me to having a very neutral canvas (dresses & suits) then super bright flowers which I still cannot get over.

Why did you choose your destination?

It just worked for everyone! It was close for us to pop over and plan with any of the vendors as we live in the area. Which also meant it was easy to help people with travel and accom Of course it’s also a stunning backdrop!

What was your favourite detail from the day?

My husband surprised me with our fur baby at the beach so he would be involved in some of the photos!

Did you have a stand out vendor from your Wedding?

All of our vendors were stand out but I don’t think our day would have run as smoothly if we didn’t have Emily who was our celebrant but also our on site coordinator.

What was your favourite moment from the day?

Our vows! We did have a microphone but just as we were starting our vows it decided to stop working, this was great for Will and I because we aren’t the most PDA people so we both were really able to listen and take in what each other was saying without the concern of omg all my family and friends are listening to us

What does marriage mean to you?

It means a lot but most importantly it means home/safe place. This is it forever and it makes me excited knowing that I’ll always have that safe place with the person I chose who knows me better than I know myself.

Advice for other couples planning a wedding?

I think as we all know it is your special day but don’t forget about those people who have been waiting for this special day! Don’t forget about your mums, dads & grandparents who all want to be there. Family well and truly makes the day!

And don’t buy your dress to early! I did this and ended up selling it for a different one because it was no longer my style.
