When Tom from Hollow & Co set out to find a deserving couple post-covid lockdown in 2020, for a dream giveaway alongside some of New Zealand’s top wedding creatives, they found the perfect couple.
ANDI + NICK celebrated in the heart of Waiheke Island’s wine region, with 30 of their nearest and dearest, even including their dog, who also made a sweet entrance down the aisle along with the couple.
An effortlessly romantic, intimate, Waiheke wedding, from strolls along whitewashed sandy beaches to a reception in the vines at Goldie Estate. A celebration spilling with love and picturesque views.
Featuring modern minimal styling and muted oceanic tones fused with delicate details of gypsophila and orchards from Blush.
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We met while bartending six years ago, and both left the bar separately to travel overseas with friends. We stayed in contact during our travels and eventually decided to meet up in Thailand.
How would you describe each other?
We laugh that we’re opposite in a lot of ways. Nick is very cool, calm, and spontaneous; I’m constantly amazed at his ability to shrug off inconveniences, calm big personalities, and bring positive energy to any situation.
Andi is an empath, very caring, she has a big heart and gets a lot of joy from loving the people, animals and nature around her. I appreciate that she challenges my perspectives and supports whatever dream I’ve pursued.
Tell us a little bit about the proposal and your engagement?
We got engaged on Waiheke Island in the summer of 2019. There’s an incredible lookout near Oneroa that we stumbled across a few years earlier while enjoying one-too-many wines with friends. It remained a special spot that we visited whenever we were on the island – which led to a very surprise engagement!
Tell us about your wedding style. What influenced your planning for the day?
We wanted a very short and sweet ceremony, and relaxed reception, and that probably influenced our planning to be the same. We chose great vendors, and put our trust in their creativity.
Why did you choose your destination?
As mentioned above, Waiheke has always been special for us and we hope to become residents one day!
What does marriage mean to you?
We’re part of a two person team, and we always try to consider the team’s best interests alongside our personal goals.
What was your favourite moment from the day?
Perhaps the surprise video message from all of our overseas guests that couldn’t be with us due to covid restrictions.
Who were your stand out vendors?
We can’t thank Tom from Hollow and Co enough for the outstanding vibe he brought to our day. The photographer is with you for quite a long time and we had so much fun with him throughout the day.
Advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Don’t let “tradition” pressure you into planning more events throughout your day. It all goes by so quickly, less events in your wedding mean more flexibility.
Do you have a favourite quote or piece of your vows you would like to share?
“I promise to be present together and always make an effort in continuing to build and grow our love.”
