OLIVIA & SETH – Queenstown

OLIVIA + SETH – Queenstown Real Wedding

A destination wedding for the wild at heart, Olivia & Seth are currently gracing the cover of our Wild Hearts Vol.02 edition, photographed by Dawn Thomson Photography and film by Joel Tronoff.

Childhood sweethearts, Olivia and Seth spent a whirlwind 7 months working to create the most magical day after a dreamy proposal in Mammoth Lakes, California. With the picturesque setting at NZ High Country for the day and the mountains and lakes as their backdrop, the untamed terrain surrounding them exuded the most wanderlust atmosphere.

The reception took place in a luxe glass marquet, with hanging lights and floating greenery. They made sure to keep the feel of their surroundings and with the help of One Fine Day and their own personal style, it all tied in effortlessly. The rustic moody blooms which helped set the scene were put together by The Flower Room. Olivia stunned in Rue De Seine while Seth looked dapper in Barkers. This luxe Queenstown wedding was a sight for sore eyes and we are still swooning over it.

“You will forever be my always.”

THE STORY

Olivia works a very mundane office job and Seth as a tradesman but this helps us support our “Real Job” of Volunteer Bible Education around the world.

We are pretty cliched in the sense that we were childhood sweethearts who meet through mutual friends. What began as a rather ordinary encounter grew into a love bigger than we both ever could have imagined.

THE PROPOSAL

We went on a family skiing trip to Mammoth Lakes California. One day we all decided to go exploring around the area. We came to the most picturesque lake and snow capped mountain so we got out to take pictures. While Olivia was distracted focusing her shot she noticed Seth’s reflection was absent from her view finder, so she turned around to find him on bended knee. A whirlwind 7 months ensued with back and forth trips to Queenstown, hours upon hours on Pinterest and countless late nights. We loved every single second of it.

WEDDING STYLE

Our wedding style was just “us”. It was the perfect mix of Seth’s Minimal and sleek style with Olivia’s wild, romantic and bohemian love. We were so inspired by the incredible Queenstown Landscape and really wanted its raw beauty to be a centre piece for the day. Throw in some Jewel tones, wild blooms and a glass marquee and we were one very happy couple.

FAVOURITE DETAILS

For Olivia there were so many details she absolutely loved so its hard to pin it down to just one. The blooms were something that we put a lot of time and effort into so seeing all the bouquets and venue flowers all together truly took her breath away.

For Seth it was the dress. It was the big unknown of the day and it truly exceeded any expectations or idea’s he had built up.

FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE DAY

It’s so hard to pin down just one moment in the day that we enjoyed the most. The ceremony though was very much a highlight. Standing on what felt like the edge of the world devoting our lives to each other was just so special and full of love and laughter.

    Beks AndersonChaos & Harmony

Over 10 years ago, Chaos & Harmony’s Creative Director and Founder, Beks Anderson and her husband sold everything they owned and moved to Italy so Beks could learn to design shoes at the Instituo Europeo di Design in Rome. She was taught by tutors who’d worked at Valentino and Fendi, among others, and learned how to infuse her lifelong love of texture, materials and leathers into comfortable, high-quality, hand-made shoes.

Twelve months later they returned to Mount Maunganui and created Chaos & Harmony - a market-leading, boutique shoe company. The name Chaos & Harmony reflects our love of textures to create depth – it brings about a curious contradiction. It also subtly sums up a woman’s world!
