Mission Estate is New Zealand’s oldest winery, established in 1851 by French missionaries, with a rich history in shaping Hawke’s Bay into the wine capital it is today.
In addition to its winemaking, Mission Estate is a popular venue for weddings and events, offering breathtaking views, versatile indoor and outdoor spaces, and a dedicated team to ensure a memorable experience.
What makes your venue stand out?
Mission Estate is a full package for picture perfect weddings, with multiple ceremony locations and the Chapel venue or alfresco terrace for dinner and dancing.
We have an outstanding reputation for food that leaves every guest happy, with different catering styles to suit every wedding. Whether a formal sit-down degustation or set menu, to social sharing family style catering or roving canapes.
To complement the meal, Mission Estate crafts a wide range of varietals, including our Fête Brut Cuvée Sparkling, French for Party, and it delivers!
Where do most of your couples come from? Are they usually locals or from out of town?
A bit of both, including a few couples getting married next year from outside NZ with family in Hawkes Bay
What’s the best part about having weddings at your venue?
Everything is in one place which makes it really easy to plan you wedding without considering multiple venues and transport etc. We even have some really hidden spectacular spots on the grounds to take Bridal Party or just Bride & Groom photos

We have our wedding packages on our website, and contact details to get in touch with our functions team. We love to show couples our amazing venue in person. We have great documents to help plan weddings, including a wedding planning checklist and great vendor recommendations
What’s next for Mission Estate for the rest of 2024 and beyond?
We have just developed our elopement package to offer small but epic weddings!
And we have so much unutilised space on our amazing grounds, so we are constantly evolving with what we can offer and how to create new venues, such as the huge concert paddock for marquees and alfresco dining under the stars
